I discovered folklorico at the age of three, with the initial appeal of colorful dresses. With time, I grew to love the challenge of mastering the intricate footwork and graceful skirt-work, all while attempting to make it look effortless. At about ten, I enrolled at Plaza de La Raza with Juanita Lopez, and after years of training in her performance group, I was invited to join Folklór Pasión Mexicana.

My most memorable performances with Pasión include National Folk Festivals, Rose Parades, and shows for our local youth. Most recently, I was honored to accompany Coco film score composer, Germaine Franco, her orchestra, and singer Anthony Gonzalez (Miguel) at the 2018 ASCAP Screen Music Awards.

At the core, dancers are storytellers. Therefore, my favorite thing about Pasión is its ability to take the audience on a journey. Our range varies from highly traditional dances, to exploring universal experiences like love and sorrow through a folklorico backdrop. I am proud to be a member of the Pasión family, sharing my heritage and keeping this art form alive. 

 I really enjoy the goal oriented creative process we go through. My directors and fellow members are very mindful to correctness and detail while promoting a good work ethic.
 

What brought me into Folklorico?
My parents, especially my mother, initially brought me to folklorico. But what keeps me coming is that it’s an outlet and a safe place to express myself.
